Lake Tahoe & Beyond!

This weekend was really really hot in Sacramento.... we are talking 109 degrees hot. So we decided to go up the mountain to south lake for a night to stay out of the heat wave. We drove up Friday afternoon and got home just a short time ago.  We booked a cheap hotel with free breakfast and a pool then piled in the car and drove East.  When we got to our room we relaxed for a while and then decided to walk to Denny's for a quick family friendly bite to eat. We didn't realize how far it was from our hotel so we ended up walking 3 mile with both kids to reach our destination. It was a long walk but we made some laughable memories and got some great pictures along the way. Today we had breakfast, packed up, and headed out to Taylor Creek visitors center. I had read some reviews on Google about places to "hike" with kids. This place had great reviews and even though it was more of a walk it was a great place and Kourtney had a great time. They had a bird festival going on so there were a lot of fun bird type activities for Kourtney to do. Best parts were it was all free and it was so beautiful! After we participated in all the activities at the visitors center we packed up and continued on 89 to Emerald Bay. Hopped out for a few pictures and then grabbed some sandwiches for lunch. Last stop was a quick hike up to our property in Truckee. We managed to get both kids up the rugged path to observe the great view of Donner Lake. Although nothing is easy with two small kids and especially having them in the car so long but it was all worth it. We had a great time and if anyone is looking for somewhere fun to take the kids near South Shore I would totally recommend the Taylor Creek Visitors Center. :)
