News for the Clements Castle

We have had the BEST time enjoying our new backyard.

Unfortunately we have a broken sewer pipe and now have to have part of the yard torn up to fix the yard. So sad.

At least I am sure they will put it back the way it was, so on the good side our yard will only be out of commission for a short time :) Thanks to all our friends who offered to help fix or give us info on getting it fixed :)

Kourtney is 15 months!!!

Where is time going? This year has been so packed it seems to be just flying by.

What's up with our really cute 15 month old you ask???

Well....

She loves bananas :)

She loves outlet plugs :( (good thing we have them all safe guarded)

She loves da da da da. Still no ma ma ma ma....

She loves climbing on things. Anything actually.

She loves watching Sesame Street and Super Why.

She loves being read to :)

She doesn't love long walks in the BOB anymore :( I'm hoping it's just a phase.

She loves the bath and especially the drain.

She really good at telling us when she is all done eating. She raises her hands up and gives us the all done sign. :)

She is in 18-24mo clothes. She weighs 24.5lb. She has grown almost two inches since Christmas :)

This past week has been really hard for mommy and baby. Kourtney had Roseola. A flu that most kids get at some point before Kindergarten. It's nasty. makes her feel really sick, really irritable, and really not hungry.

Dr. Doan said she needs extra love even though most parents want to pull their hair out when their kids have it. He prescribed a glass of wine for me. What a good Dr. :) haha

Other then that she is doing really great. :)

Oh. One other really big change is we installed her forward facing car seat. We have her rear facing one in still to and have been switching her between the two and it's obvious she really loves the new car seat! Thanks Matt & Nicole :)

More pics soon :)

Cook Books In December

As many of you know I have made my New Years resolution to make as many new dinners every month as I can...

So far so good. We have tried about 40 new dinners :) Some good, some bad, some really good, and some really bad. My goal is to at the end of the year take all the ones we rate a 3-5 stars and make a cookbook to give or maybe sell to my friends at cost (depending on how many people want one).

I am getting recipes from friends, family, online, in books, and some that are my own to give it a good variety. I plan on making changes to the recipes as I go to make them my own if I think they need more of something or less of something and so on.

This recipe is by Wendy Weisenburger.

2 quarts water
2 Tablespoons salt
1 1/2 cups Orzo
5 Tablespoons EVOO
1 Teaspoon grated lemon zest
1/3 cup fresh lemon juice
Salt and pepper to taste
1 (5oz) package on long grain wild rice
1 (3oz) package slivered almonds
1/2 large red bell pepper, diced fine (I used a full one)
1/2 large yellow bell pepper, diced fine ( I used a full one)
1/2 Purple onion, diced fine(I used a yellow one)
1/2 cup Craisins
1/4 cup capers
1/4 cup finely chopped basil
2 Tablespoons finely chopped parsley.

1. In a large pot over high heat, bring the water to a boil. Add the 2 tablespoons salt and the Orzo and cook until tender, 5-8min. Drain the orzo and toss with 1 tablespoon of the olive oil (EVOO). Cover and cool compleatly in the fridge.
2. Prepare the long grain rice according to the package. Let cool. (I spread mine out on a plate and put in the fridge to cool quick).
3. Combine in a large bowl the remaining 4 tablespoons of EVOO, lemon zest, lemon juice, salt and pepper to taste. Add the almonds, peppers, onion, craisins, capers, basil, parsley, rice, and orzo.
4. Toss to mix well and serve. Garnish with lemon if desired :)

Zach and I gave this recipie as a dinner a 2. Not because it wasn't good but because we would have like a nice peice of fish on top or a grilled chicken breast. We just thought it seamed more liek a side dish. But, that's just us. I ate leftovers for lunch the next two days adn it tasted just fine for a quick easy lunch all by its self.

++ As a side dish or with a added meat on top we would have rated it a 4!!! So it is really yummy. Let me know what you think after you try it out :)

Jacksons 5th Birthday

I couldn't find these pictures for a while but I found them now so I thought I would put them up before Jackson turns 6. Kourtney went to Jackson's 5th birthday party. It was a really fun pirate themed party with lots of little kids! Here are the pics I got at the party:

The end

February Recap :)

What a great warm February we are having. Usually it's really cold/wet for Zach's and my birthdays! We are not complaining that's for sure!!!

I have found three more of Kourtneys teeth coming in. She is drooling a little and a little cranky but mostly she is doing ok considering.

This month has been so good to us so far and I am sure the last week will be just as great. Zach and I are both a year older now... 29 & 33. Doing big things still with the house and of course our sweet little baby Kourtney is changing sooo much! Here are a few pics from this month.

Book I am reading. Love it. Great advice :) Thanks Shona!

What cute little butt she has. She moves so fast so the pictures are kinda blurry. But she is too darn cute not to post them as she thinks she can climb into the tub.

As I went to clean out the cabinets in my kitchen I wasn't thinking they would turn into a climbing space...but I was wrong. She really climbs on/in anything.

Zach hanging the last two cabinets in our kitchen near the back window. So glad we ended up getting two more. Lots more space and they frame the window really nicely.

That's all for now. :)

Turf Wars Preview...

Per our contract we are unable to show "large" shots of our yard online or really share them in any fashion. However, I know so many of you are begging for pictures! So I am going to post a few of the ones I am allowed to do in  this post as a "teaser" and as soon as the show airs we will post a whole bunch more!!! AND Don't worry!!! As soon as we know when it will air we will post it so you will all know when you can watch us make a fool of ourselves while getting a dope backyard!!!!! :)

BEFORE: The state we bought it in! (Keep in mind we just moved in to this fixer-upper and have just finished working on the inside....so NO yard work has been done AT ALL)

2nd Phase.... All of the construction going on inside the house during the last few months turned a already bad backyard to a even worse backyard...... Here is the construction phase....

3nd Phase: After some demo...pre-show...all done while we were in Cancun :) Thanks to Big Green Landscape ..... http://www.biggreenlandscape.com/

Demo was hard work in our tornado zone. We really appreciate everyones hard work getting our backyard "prepped" for camera :)

Phase 4- A few during filming shots!

Phase 5.... The final pictures.... At least the ones we can have online :)

I can't wait to share more of the afters!!! They did such a great job!!!
